My coat picks for this Winter

29 November 2022

It's finally the season to ditch the light jackets and delve for those warmer coats. The item that brings your outfit together and probably one that I would invest the most in. Some of these are more on the expensive side but you can always save these styles for inspiration and browse Vinted or look in charity shops instead. I'm sure it will feature on here soon but I recently bought a golden charity shop find and it was a vintage long brown wool coat for only £20.00 so eyes have to be seriously peeled these days.

I have gone for more classic picks that are going to go with everything and be 'in fashion' for a long, long time as well as one or two statement pieces that I hope one day make their way into my wardrobe.

Pumpkin picking | Photo diary '22

27 October 2022

'Tis the season to pumpkin pick. Here is a collated photo selection of this year's trip out to the fields and our first time visiting Frogs Farm, but we'll definitely be back next year. Find them on Instagram @frogsfarm.
I feel like this starts off the autumnal festivities perfectly. I love the colours in these photos, a great autumnal palette.

A caotic photo shoot.

The perfect one.

A rogue sunflower amongst the pumpkins.

I wish there was a video of me getting up the mountain of hay bales! It was quite the task.

Very windswept.

Jumper- H&M
Jeans- Zara
Trainers- Reebok
Bag- Uniqlo

My top 12 timeless Autumn wardrobe staples

19 October 2022

Any excuse to browse clothes online and I am here for it. I wanted to curate a selection of timeless Autumnal pieces that could be worn year after year, not just throw away trend items. A lot of these can be worn together or you may even have them in your wardrobe already. I'm liking a more neutral colour palette at the moment as it's more versatile so my top twelve picks from the high street follow this theme, with additions of smarter options as well as casual pieces too.

Dark beige faux shearling lined slip ons- Monki (these might be the best birkinstock dupes!)

Ribbed grey knit jumper- H&M

Cream corduroy trousers- H&M

Black mini skirt with split- Bershka

Beige single breasted blazer- H&M

Wide leg jeans- H&M

Cream and black striped knit- Zara

Beige long sleeve top- H&M (available in other colours)

Stealing Harry Styles' style | Autumn edition

15 October 2022

I don't think any introduction will do Harry justice, but his style is pretty iconic to say the least. From the old Jack Wills days to now Gucci and Gazelles. His fashion has become an important part of his image and there are so many outfits I could have chosen from to find links to but I narrowed it down to three of my favourites. If you've ever wanted to channel Harry vibes but don't know how, you're in the right place.

Corduroy! I personally love cord jeans and they are probably a staple in Harry's wardrobe too. The colour palette of browns, neutrals and turquoise are quite the epitome of Autumn so perfect for this time of year.

Cream cord jeans- Asos

Brown cord flared jeans- Topshop via Asos

Cordurory wide leg trousers- H&M

Long sleeve striped t-shirt in stone- Asos

Long sleeve t-tshirt in pink and brown stripe- Asos

Oversized tee in brown stripe- New Look via Asos

I chose to recreate the basis of this outfit, cord trousers and a striped top. I would go for cream trousers as I think you can pair them with more of a variety of tops. Harry has gone for a neutral striped t-shirt so I chose a variety of similar long sleeve tops in those colours. Pair with a pearl necklace and a light jacket to complete the look.

Okay so I know this is not a great representation of the outfit (hello James Corden) but I wanted to pick outfits that are easy to recreate online or use things that you might have in your wardrobe already. I love a cream knit, a key piece to a timeless Autumn wardrobe and Harry is wearing one here with a Navy long coat, which I'm now very much scarrowing the markets for.

Cable knit polo neck jumper- H&M

Chunky jumper with open collar in cream- Asos

Wrap coat in Navy- River Island via Asos

Oversized longlined wool mix overcoat in Navy- Asos Men's section

Carrying on with the Autumnal colour theme, this outfit fits so well underneath the smart casual category. This photo is from 2019 but I have seen these wide leg trousers everywhere recently and I've been after a pair for a while so a great opportunity for me to browse the high street online. The outfit as a whole is quite simple but he has brought in the check patterned jacket as a statement piece but it's not too over the top and definitely wearable.

Pair with a white t-shirt and white trainers.

Which one is your favourite?

Styling the famous Uniqlo shoulder bag

3 October 2022

Autumn is officially here and so is the fashion. It seems like I blinked and the weather dropped about 15 degrees, has Winter come early?

I say every year that I'm not looking forward to Autumn and Winter but when they come around, I secretly love it. I'm writing this on the day that Strictly starts and that is when you know the seasons are changing, the lead up to Christmas is here and it's basically the new year.

But before I get way too ahead of myself, I couple of weeks ago I saw that the Uniqlo Mini Shoulder Bags were back in stock and I added them to my basket, both the neutral and black, almost too quickly for me to breathe. No exaggeration, I honestly thought they would sell out in minutes like they have done before but there was no need for me to be quite so dramatic.

I'm definitely a shoulder bag person, I like wearing a bag and having my hands free so these tick so many boxes. With a simple design, they go with everything from a hoodie and coat look for those colder days to a blazer. They are so spacious and fit in so much more than I thought they would, perfectly practical and you have all your belongings so close to you with the adjustable cross-body style.

Here is one way I would style the neutral mini shoulder bag, with a neutral casual outfit to match.

Stealing Julia Robert's style | Notting Hill

16 September 2022

If you know me, you know that me and Notting Hill go hand in hand. I'm a huge fan of Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant as actors, his dancing scene in Love Actually will forever be ingrained in my brain.

Notting Hill is one of those films that I put on and instantly makes me feel in a better mood, I just love it. The late 90s style, the London scenery, the soundtrack and obviously the storyline and William and Anna's unstable but movie like (ironic) relationship. So in a nutshell, everything. Stick on a rom-com and I am hooked.

As I explained in a previous post, whenever I watch a film, I take inspiration from the style and try and recreate the outfits as best as possible or end up on Asos instead scrolling for hours.

As we prepare to eek into Autumn style, which takes me a while to get used to after wearing summer dresses for a few months, Anna Scott does it pretty perfectly; from berets to leather jackets and the classic Vans trainer.

Black wool beret- Asos

Cat eye sunglasses in shiny black- Asos

Cat eye sunglasses in black- Bershka vis Asos

Oversized faux leather blazer in black- Bershka via Asos

Faux leather cropped blazer jacket in black- Topshop via Asos

Faux leather trench coat in brown- Bershka via Asos

Leather look trench in black- Vila via Asos

I think this is THE epitome of Notting Hill fashion. The different textures between the leather and wool contrast so well together and the famous incognito sunglasses paired with the look finish off the 'trying to be hidden as I'm a famous film star' style.

Leather belt in brown with gold antique buckle- Asos

Wide faux suede belt with burnished gold western buckle in brown- Asos

Basic high neck funnel top in slate- Topshop via Asos

Rib vest with assymmetrical strap in grey marl- Asos

Vest in grey marl- Topshop via Asos

Large linen cover up in teal- Monsoon

Without the floral kimino, this outift is so easy to recreate and one of those 'less is more' kind of looks; with the wide leg blue jeans, brown belt and a grey vest. The links I've given aren't exactly the same items as the ones in the image shown but you may have these in your wardrobe already, or anything similar will create this simplistic outfit. However, the kimono isn't to everyone's taste so I chose only one in case you want to fully steal the look but so many things can be worn instead. It has be something of a loose jacket shape so for me, I would maybe wear a blazer or even a cardigan. I think the hair and the jewellery complete this outfit perfectly, an up-do and dainty necklaces and bracelets.

(stain not to be recreated)

The floral flares | How to style

25 October 2021

Possibly the coolest pair of trousers I own. The flare style, floral pattern and autumnal colours instantly grabbed my eye when I was aimlessly scrolling on the Asos new in section.
Sometimes I feel like autumnal style can be a bit boring with quite a lot of plain/neutral clothing but these are in no way boring! I don't know if anyone feels the same as me about clothes in their wardrobe but I get excited when these are out of the wash so I can wear them again. Thankfully, because I am a sucker for a floral pattern, I had quite a few items I could style these with and even though they are patterned, they do pair well with quite a lot.

Maybe it's just because I have one too many plain tops.

The next best thing to lounge wear that you can wear out of the house. They really are so comfortable and fit perfectly! And with my collection of flares and 70s style clothing, that's slowly but surely growing, I was very excited to add these to the party.

For this particular look, I styled them simply with a plain black cropped t-shirt and a knitted cream cardigan but anything, from sweatshirts to jumpers or shirts would go just as well. And they would probably be a bit warmer than a t-shirt that has my midriff on show.

I was sad to say goodbye to summer styling but with this new addition to my wardrobe, it certainly makes dressing for autumn a lot more exciting.

My Autumn 2021 style lusts

23 September 2021

I'm actually finding it really hard to say goodbye to Summer this year. I always do find it hard but
for some reason especially this year; I'll miss the long evenings, the pink summer skies, feeling the warm sun on my face whilst I look at the glistening blue (sometimes green/brown) sea and of course, the summer outfits.

But.

I'm learning to embrace change and the changing of seasons is good. Autumn brings a lot of good things; Strictly, Bake Off and some great sunsets. Basically, good tv is all I can think of whilst I'm typing this. And my birthday!! How could I forget? It commences the start of Autumn in my eyes.

I started searching around for some pieces to update my wardrobe with for Autumn and after some time, I finally found a few so I thought I'd share them with you!

A lot of bright colours and brown, the colder weather can't stop me from injecting colour into my wardrobe.

What pieces have you got your eye on?

I thought I would add that alongside the pretty pictures, there were a lot of moments that wouldn't have been so blog post worthy. It was a struggle at some points with the anxiety I had felt in the two weeks leading up to my celebrations. On most of these days, I woke up thinking I couldn't go and do whatever I had planned. However, with the help I had from my counsellor and the work I put in myself, I managed to do it and create some of the best memories. And I think that made this birthday a little bit more special.
