A catch up post

31 July 2021

Sorry, it's been a bit quiet over here!

I've been trying to spin a lot of plates recently and have left writing on the back seat for a bit so I thought I'd try and update you on a few things as I've now broken up for Summer and will hopefully have more time to spend blogging instead of writing what felt like thousands of revision cards.

Hope you're all okay too and not melting in this heatwave! (I wrote this sentence a while ago and now the weather is rubbish. So you can all blame me, sorry.)

The last time I properly spoke on here, it was quite a big, heavy post! Before I go any further, I just wanted to say thank you for the overwhelming response to it and for those that messaged with their own stories after I shared mine. Anxiety and mental health is a huge topic that affects everyone at some point in their life and has made more of an impact on people due to the complexities of the last year and a half. Everyone's story is different and before I shared mine, I found it so comforting and eye-opening to hear other people's and the ways in which they have coped. It's quite a scary thing to share, a very scary thing for some but it's a massive step in the right direction.

Telling people is mentally exhausting but such a weight lifter and reiterated to me how many supportive people I have in my life and writing it out to share online to a bigger audience was me hoping to make at least one person feel less alone.

I mentioned starting counselling and how that was a big step for me. I've had over 10 sessions so far and I can see such a difference in myself from when I started to now. I've learned so much about anxiety itself, what actually is a panic attack (and how I started having them 4 years ago and didn't know), the science behind them, why I reacted in certain ways that actually weren't good for me and learning new ways to deal with anxiety. It's been so eye-opening to talk to someone professional, away from your family and friends circle.

As I've already said, I had my mocks a few weeks before I broke up for the summer holidays and revision took up a lot of my time. However, apart from revising (but not really knowing what to do) for my GCSEs that actually never happened, I felt that the revision I did and techniques I used were successful. I was also anxious about going into a hall that holds many factors that I don't like, and after many discussions with my teachers, I was able to go into a smaller room to complete my exams and it was the best decision. It made a huge difference!

Apart from making it through each week to the summer holidays and being so busy with school work in the final weeks, I haven't really got much else to say. I'm so happy to be having a break and to be able to focus on other things!

I just wanted to say a quick hello before posting more content, time off from blogging has made me accumalate so many ideas!

If you could pick one word to describe how you feel right now, what would it be?

Spring So Far | Photo diary

3 June 2021

The weather is warmer...at last. I think we can all agree that waking up to blue skies is a million times better than waking up to cloud everyday for months. The copious amounts of ice cream, smothering yourself in suncream (important but a boring chore) and the feeling of coming out of an airconditined shop to be hit with heat. And we can do more outside now, see friends and family and of course, hug...with caution :) Scroll through some pics of fun times from the last couple of weeks.

Picnicing in Cambride with family.

Let's not look at the cloud...

My cool trainer gang.

Lots of trees. Currently obsessed with nature and being outside.

Had a tango iced blast the other day for the first time, a very exciting experience.

Strawbs.

No caption needed!

What a view.

Sisters in sunglasses.

The sea kind of looks blue here and I'm enjoying it a lot. Normally it's like a green-y brown.

Dress- H&M

A massive queue coming out of all the ice cream shops? Go to the co-op freezer instead.

Rainy clouds in Cambridge.

Finally, some warm weather.

Some pretty wysteria.

Waiting for chips...

Dreamy colourful houses!

Countryside views from the car.

More tango iced blasts.

3 ways to style the 90s wide leg jeans | Spring fashion

17 May 2021

Writing about spring fashion when it's May and sunny is totally different to writing about spring fashion when it's rainy and horrible outside. This can be classed as manifestation, right?

So I've boycotted the coat and am dealing with the fact that I might freeze to death.

But this is for when the weather does warm up and we can walk freely out of the house and maybe not even bother to check the weather app. What a dream that will be.

I have been looking for a pair of wide-leg jeans for ages! I've tried many, a lot were too long and too baggy. I know that's the style but you know when it's too much, you want them to fit nicely in the right areas.

With things like this, I learnt that the best thing to do is try on in-store if you can. When looking online, sometimes they'd look perfect on the model and they would arrive, look good out of the packet and then just not look how I envisioned at all when I tried them on. This happened many times before venturing in-store.

But one of the things I also realised was that my legs were too short and they would need a inches cut off them so they didn't look like my ankles were being drowned with material and I could wear a pair of trainers without the hem dragging across the floor.

The pair that I now own and actually fit me are from H&M and I managed to find them on a random rail in my size! The fact that fitting rooms are open now is a lifesaver and especially if you have a helpful assistant to tell you you should buy them, an added bonus.

However, they were too long for me but fitted everywhere else perfectly so I knew that when I cut them, I would be happy with them as if it wasn't, I couldn't send them back.

When it came to doing the traditional fashion show at home, trying on many different tops to see how I'd wear them, I thought it would be quite difficult as they are baggy and I didn't want to wear a baggy top with them but it's up to personal preference and I think it looks okay if you do a half tuck at the front.

I've chosen three t-shirts, very much channeling the spring vibe, that I have worn with them or plan on wearing with them when the weather changes! I'm obessed with anything colourful at the moment. And my trusty basket bag, claw clips and trainers. What a trio of accessories.
